Check renewal, cancellation and account-deletion rules before starting a paid subscription.

While chatting

do not share passwords, banking details or authentication codes,
be cautious with links and attachments from a new contact,
never send money to someone you only know online,
slow down when emotional urgency begins driving decisions,
stay on the platform until you are more confident the person is who they say they are.

A café, pub, restaurant or other busy venue gives you more control than a private address.

Let a trusted person know where you are and roughly when you expect to be back.

Romance fraud in the UK

Report Fraud said in May 2026 that people across the UK lost more than £102 million to romance fraud in the previous year, across 10,784 reports. Its warning signs include very fast emotional escalation, avoiding face-to-face meetings or live video calls and requests for money, cryptocurrency, gift cards, investments, emergency costs or travel expenses.
